Keskisuomalainen changes newspaper distribution in North Savo
Mediakonserni Keskisuomalainen is changing the early morning newspaper distribution model in small towns across North Savo and Heinävesi. Starting in early November, many subscribers will transition from receiving newspapers in their individual mailboxes to using communal collection boxes.
Tuomas Huusko, the consumer sales manager for the Savo-Karjala region, stated that while the change is significant, the communal boxes are intended to ensure that early morning delivery remains possible. Customers have been notified via mail regarding the location and number of their assigned boxes, which will be placed near existing mailbox groups or other central locations.
The shift follows a new three-year logistics agreement with Posti, which takes effect at the turn of the year. The company noted that the previous distribution method was no longer cost-effective. Under the new arrangement, Posti will handle early morning delivery in larger urban areas and select smaller towns, while Keskisuomalainen will manage distribution in other locations.
