Kevin Sinfield opens college sports facilities and begins MND charity run
Sir Kevin Sinfield has inaugurated new sports facilities at Ashton Sixth Form College, including a sports hall and a strength and conditioning gym. The facility is designed to provide opportunities for the college's 2,300 students and can be hired by local community groups.
Separately, Sinfield has commenced his ‘7 in 7: The Grand Finale’ ultra marathon challenge to raise funds and awareness for motor neurone disease (MND) charities. The event involves running an ultra marathon every day for seven days, visiting the home grounds of all 12 English Betfred Super League clubs before finishing at Old Trafford.
Inspired by his former teammate Rob Burrow, Sinfield’s fundraising efforts have raised over £11 million for the MND community since 2020. The current challenge has already seen nearly £500,000 pledged to benefit six charities, including the MND Association and the Leeds Hospitals Charity. Former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate joined Sinfield during the initial stages of the run.
