Khanh Hoa Province proposes merging Khanh Hoa University into Nha Trang University

The Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Education and Training to merge Khanh Hoa University into Nha Trang University. This move aims to improve the quality of higher education in the province and streamline educational institutions in accordance with central and local government restructuring plans.

Khanh Hoa University is currently the only public university directly under the management of the Khanh Hoa provincial government. By merging it into Nha Trang University—an institution under the Ministry of Education and Training—the province intends to transform Nha Trang University into a major regional institution. The provincial government expects that by April 1, 2027, there will no longer be any universities directly under its jurisdiction.

Established in 2015, Khanh Hoa University currently serves over 5,000 students across 21 undergraduate programs, one postgraduate program, and six college-level programs. As of late July 2026, the university reported a financial autonomy rate of 65.1%.
