Educational restructuring in Khanh Hoa Province
Overview
Educational restructuring is underway in Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, involving the consolidation of various academic institutions.
In August 2026, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee proposed merging Khanh Hoa University into Nha Trang University. The goal of this proposal is to improve higher education quality and streamline institutions. By moving Khanh Hoa University—the province’s only public university under local management—into the Ministry of Education and Training’s jurisdiction via Nha Trang University, the province aims to transform the latter into a major regional institution. The provincial government anticipates that by April 1, 2027, it will no longer have any universities under its direct jurisdiction.
Following this higher education initiative, thirteen primary schools in Nha Trang Ward merged to form the Nha Trang Primary School. This new institution manages 10,565 students and 524 staff members across one main campus and 12 branches. To maintain stability, the school appointed 13 vice principals, including former principals from the merged schools, to oversee original locations. The school intends to use a decentralized management approach and implement digital transformation and artificial intelligence to streamline administration.
