Khofifah Indar Parawansa promotes religious education and spiritual unity in East Java
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has emphasized the province's role as a center for religious scholars. During a graduation ceremony at Ma'had Aly Nurul Cholil in Bangkalan, she highlighted the provincial government's commitment to religious higher education through various scholarship programs.
Between 2019 and 2026, nearly 8,000 students have benefited from these scholarships. This includes specialized funding for studies at Al-Azhar in Cairo, where the provincial government is working to increase support from undergraduate to master's and doctoral levels. Khofifah expressed hope that graduates would become experts capable of addressing modern challenges in technology and development.
In a separate event in Surabaya, Governor Khofifah joined thousands of citizens for a mass dhikr, sholawat, and prayer session at the Grahadi State Building. The spiritual gathering was held to commemorate Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, aiming to strengthen national unity and pray for the country's prosperity and peace.
