Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly rejects incorporating districts into Islamabad

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution rejecting any proposals or plans to incorporate Haripur, Abbottabad, or any other district of the province into the federal capital, Islamabad.

Led by Chief Whip Akbar Ayub, the assembly emphasized the need to protect the province's geographical integrity, constitutional status, and autonomy. The resolution demands that the federal government withdraw all such proposals, asserting that any changes to provincial boundaries for administrative, political, or economic reasons would conflict with the constitutional rights and sovereignty of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The assembly also highlighted that the province's natural resources, including water reservoirs, hydroelectric projects, minerals, and forests, are the constitutional right of the province and its people. The resolution warned that unilateral changes to provincial borders based on political interests could harm national unity and inter-provincial trust.
