By mid-August, the tension shifted toward financial matters as the provincial government rejected a federal proposal to deduct Rs6.4 billion from its financial transfers. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi argued that the deduction lacks constitutional authorization under Article 164, noting that the provincial government had not signed any memorandum of understanding regarding the amount and had made no such provision in the 2026-27 budget.
