Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expands police force and conducts anti‑militant raid

The provincial government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced the recruitment of 4,306 police constables, including women, to strengthen security amid a resurgence of militant attacks attributed to the Pakistani Taliban. Chief Minister Muhammad Suhail Afridi urged the new officers to prioritize crime elimination and counter‑terrorism.

In a separate operation in Bannu district, the Counter Terrorism Department, supported by local police, killed five militants after an intelligence‑based raid. Security forces recovered assault rifles, magazines, grenades and ammunition and continue searches for the militants who escaped.

Both actions reflect the province’s intensified effort to curb insurgent activity along its border with Afghanistan.
