Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faces wave of militant strikes, dozens of security forces killed

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that killed more than 56 soldiers and injured dozens. The deadliest assault occurred at the joint army‑police camp in Manji Khel, Tank district, where over 40 troops were killed after TTP fighters breached the facility with mines and heavy weapons. Additional attacks hit Bannu district, South Waziristan, Khurran district and Kohat, resulting in further soldier and police fatalities and vehicle damage.

On 26 July, a separate incident in the Shah Hasan Khel area of Lakki Marwat district saw an unidentified group open fire on a Frontier Corps officer on leave, killing him instantly. The same night a government girls’ middle school was blown up in the area. Authorities have not yet confirmed the perpetrators, though the federal government repeatedly blames the banned TTP for cross‑border militant violence in the province.
