Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership faces internal PTI political tension
Internal political tensions have emerged within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party regarding the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Reports surfaced alleging that PTI founder Imran Khan issued instructions to remove Chief Minister Sohail Afridi or initiate a vote of no confidence due to dissatisfaction with his performance and role in the Islamabad march.
However, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and members of Imran Khan’s family have officially denied these claims, stating that the founder maintains full confidence in Sohail Afridi. Family members issued a statement calling the reports regarding a meeting between Imran Khan and Noreen Niazy fabricated.
Despite these denials, lobbying for a change in leadership is reportedly underway within the party. Various factions, including groups associated with former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and a group of over 30 dissatisfied members, are reportedly planning for a potential leadership transition. These groups are discussing candidates for the Chief Minister position should Afridi be removed from office.
