Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officials discuss security and potential Governor's Rule
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met at the Governor House to discuss the province's security and political situation. The discussions focused on maintaining law and order in light of a potential long march by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
During the meeting, officials agreed that the Governor House would fulfill its constitutional role if the President and Prime Minister deem it necessary to impose Governor's Rule or an emergency in the province. It was also clarified that government helicopters or other state resources will not be permitted for use during the PTI long march, noting that such use would violate judicial decisions.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police briefed the Interior Minister on the current security status, stating that police forces have been placed on high alert and personnel have been summoned to police lines to manage any potential instability. The federal government has indicated it will take measures to prevent incidents similar to those of May 9.
