Kia boosts Czech SUV offerings while Tesla sued over Hungarian Model Y crash

Kia Czech is expanding its SUV and crossover range as the segment now accounts for almost half of global new‑car sales. General director Arnošt Barna said the popularity of SUVs is driven by practical benefits such as higher ride height for easier entry and better handling on poor roads. In the Czech market more than 75 % of Kia’s portfolio consists of SUVs and crossovers, with models such as the XCeed, Sportage and the newly launched Seltos – the latter featuring a hybrid powertrain with Vehicle‑to‑Load technology.

In Hungary, a woman who test‑drove a Tesla Model Y is filing a lawsuit against the automaker after the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly during a stop, causing a crash that set a nearby salon on fire. She claims Tesla failed to adequately inform her about the car’s aggressive regenerative braking and high performance, while Tesla argues the driver was not sufficiently cautious. The case highlights consumer‑safety concerns surrounding high‑power electric SUVs.
