Kia EV5 ranks first in German electric SUV comparison

The Kia EV5 has secured first place in a comprehensive electric SUV comparison conducted by the German automotive magazine ‘Auto Motor und Sport’. The evaluation assessed several models across seven categories: body, safety, convenience, powertrain, driving performance, environmental friendliness, and economy.

In the final overall score, the Kia EV5 earned 588 points, surpassing the Tesla Model Y, which ranked second with 557 points. The EV5 demonstrated significant advantages in several key areas, particularly in safety, where it scored 89 points compared to the Model Y's 60 points. This gap was largely attributed to the EV5 achieving superior braking distances in both cold and warm conditions.

Other competitors included the XPeng G6 and the MG S6 EV, which placed third and fourth respectively. Despite the Tesla Model Y having a lower starting price in the German market, the EV5 outperformed it in body, safety, convenience, and driving performance metrics.
