Kia launches PV5 electric cargo van in New Zealand

Kia has introduced the PV5 Cargo, an all‑electric delivery van, to the New Zealand market. The vehicle measures 4.7 m in length and offers a cargo volume of 4,420 litres, a payload capacity of 765 kg and a towing limit of 750 kg. It is powered by a 71.2 kWh battery that delivers up to 416 km (WLTP) on a single charge, with optional 22 kW AC charging reducing charge time to about three hours and fast DC charging (up to 150 kW) capable of a full charge in roughly 30 minutes. The van is priced from NZ$64,990, with extra fees for a six‑door configuration, non‑white paint and higher‑output charging.

Safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane‑keep assist and autonomous emergency braking, earning a five‑star ANCAP rating in June 2026. The PV5 sits on Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) architecture, allowing the company to expand the line with a seven‑seat passenger version later this year, a high‑roof cargo variant early next year, and larger models (PV7, PV9) slated for release through 2029.
