Kia launches PV5 WAV electric wheelchair-accessible minibus

Kia has introduced the PV5 WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle), an electric mini-bus designed specifically for passengers with reduced mobility. Unlike many competitors that rely on third-party workshops for conversions, Kia utilizes a ‘Made-In-Plant’ strategy, developing and producing the accessible version directly within its own manufacturing process.

The vehicle features a two-stage telescopic side ramp integrated into a subfloor. This design allows for direct access from the street or sidewalk, ranging from 1.25 meters to 1.75 meters in length. Depending on the curb height, the ramp's incline can be adjusted to maintain accessibility.

Internally, the PV5 WAV is configured to accommodate a wheelchair in the space typically occupied by the second row, while still providing seating for an accompanying person and a third row. The vehicle is available with two battery options—51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh—offering a range of up to 391 kilometers. It is positioned as an M1 category passenger car, making it available through standard Kia dealerships for both private and commercial use.
