Kia launches refreshed full‑hybrid Niro CUV for the European market
Kia has unveiled a refreshed version of its Niro compact crossover SUV, now offered exclusively as a full‑hybrid for Europe. The new model pairs a 1.6‑litre GDI gasoline engine delivering 75 kW with a 32 kW electric motor, together producing 138 hp and 265 Nm of torque, and is mated to a six‑speed dual‑clutch transmission. Updated exterior styling follows Kia’s “Opposites United” design language, while the cabin now features larger 12.3‑inch horizontal infotainment screens and an expanded ADAS suite for safety and comfort.
Pablo Martínez Masip, Kia Europe’s Vice President of Product, Marketing & Customer Experience, said, “Hybrid technology represents a practical path toward electrification, offering greater flexibility to customers during the transition to increasingly electric mobility.” Since its introduction, the Niro has sold 630,000 units worldwide, with the full‑hybrid variant being the most popular. Development work involved Kia’s global R&D centre in Korea and testing facilities in Spain and Sweden to tailor the vehicle to European conditions.
