Kia launches first hybrid Sorento SUV in India, pre‑bookings open
Kia India has unveiled a teaser for the all‑new Sorento, marking the brand’s first strong‑hybrid SUV for the Indian market. The company opened official pre‑bookings, accepting a token amount of Rs 25,000 through authorised dealerships and its website.
The Sorento will sit above the Seltos as Kia’s flagship three‑row premium SUV in India, offering six‑ or seven‑seat configurations. Expected powertrain details point to a 1.6‑litre turbo‑petrol strong‑hybrid system delivering roughly 238 hp and 380 Nm, paired with a six‑speed automatic gearbox; a diesel variant may also be offered. Features are likely to include dual 12.3‑inch curved displays, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Level‑2 ADAS, 360° camera, Bose audio and wireless connectivity.
Globally, the Sorento has sold over 4.8 million units across 132 countries since its 2002 launch and has earned top safety ratings. Kia plans a market launch in late 2026 or early 2027, positioning the model against rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq.
