Kia Sorento launches in India starting at Rs 27.99 lakh

Kia India has launched the Sorento, a flagship three-row SUV, in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned above the Seltos and Carens, the Sorento aims to compete with premium models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster.

The vehicle is available with two primary powertrain options: a 1.6-liter strong-hybrid petrol engine producing approximately 238 hp and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. The Sorento offers various configurations, including six-seat and seven-seat layouts, with features such as Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup.

Industry analysts note that the hybrid option provides a technological alternative for urban drivers, particularly in regions like Delhi-NCR where diesel regulations are a consideration. The Sorento's entry marks Kia's expansion into the high-end SUV segment in India, offering both diesel and hybrid technology to cater to diverse consumer preferences.
