Kia Sorento launch in India

In August 2026, Kia India announced the upcoming launch of the Sorento, a three-row flagship internal-combustion-engined SUV. The vehicle was expected to feature All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and a ‘Live Gen AI’ in-car voice assistant designed for natural-language queries and vehicle control.

Following the announcement, Kia officially launched the Sorento in the Indian market in September 2026. Positioned above the Seltos and Carens, the SUV aims to compete with premium models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster. The vehicle is available in 32 configurations with 6 or 7 seat layouts.

The lineup includes a 2.2-liter diesel turbo engine producing 195bhp and 442Nm of torque, and a 1.6-liter turbo petrol strong hybrid option producing approximately 238 hp. Pricing for the diesel model starts at ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the hybrid model starts at ₹29.49 lakh. Key features include Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup. Industry analysts suggest the hybrid option serves as a technological alternative for urban drivers, particularly in regions like Delhi-NCR where diesel regulations are a consideration.
