Hyundai IONIQ 3 unveiled for Europe as Kia Niro goes hybrid‑only

Hyundai introduced the IONIQ 3, a compact 100 % electric hatchback built for the European market. The model adopts the “Art of Steel” design language and an “Aero Hatch” silhouette, offers interior space styled as a “Furnished Space”, and is equipped with the new PLEOS Connect infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS with displays up to 14.6 inches and the Gleo AI voice assistant. Production will take place at Hyundai’s İzmit plant in Turkey.

Kia announced that the Niro will be sold only in a conventional hybrid (HEV) version in Europe, ending the plug‑in‑hybrid and electric variants. The hybrid combines a 1.6‑liter GDI gasoline engine with a 32 kW electric motor for a total output of 138 hp, paired with a six‑speed DCT. Pricing in Spain starts at €24,410 after discounts. The refreshed model gains a dual 12.3‑inch screen layout, OTA updates, Digital Key 2.0, and an expanded suite of driver‑assist systems. The Niro remains Kia’s third‑best‑selling model in Spain, with 4,460 units sold this year, representing 17.4 % of the brand’s total sales.
