Kia PV5 electric van faces production limits as demand outstrips supply

Kia's electric van, the PV5, has seen demand far exceeding expectations since its launch in Europe and South Korea last year. Strong interest has led the automaker to limit allocations for several international markets because production capacity cannot keep pace. In Australia, Kia plans to sell about 500 units per year, targeting roughly 50 units a month, with the cargo version priced at AUD 55,990. The PV5 is positioned as a complement to the company’s popular Carnival MPV, not a replacement, and aims at a niche segment distinct from its conventional vans.

Global sales of the PV5 reached over 8,100 units in the first three months of 2026, and the model now appears in markets such as Japan, Canada and other European countries. Kia executives note that limited supply reflects high interest in both passenger and cargo variants, and the company is carefully managing deliveries while pursuing an aggressive electric‑vehicle strategy worldwide.
