Kia PV5 WAV Enables First Family Trip for Disabled Man After 23 Years

Hyundai Motor Group released a video titled “The Moving Room” showing 38‑year‑old Kim On‑yu, who has relied on a breathing‑assist device for 23 years, travelling with his family thanks to Kia’s purpose‑built vehicle (PBV) PV5 WAV. The PV5 WAV, part of Kia’s “Green Travel” CSR programme, features a side‑door entry for wheelchair users, a 6‑to‑4 cushion tip‑up seat that lets a companion sit beside the wheelchair, and V2L (vehicle‑to‑load) capability that powers medical equipment such as an oxygen generator during the journey.

The trip, supported by medical staff, took the family to the seaside, marking Kim’s first outing beyond the hospital since 2000. Kia highlighted the model as a showcase of mobility‑technology that can expand travel possibilities for people with reduced mobility, reinforcing its broader aim of “mobility for all.”
