Kia PV5 WAV enables travel for mobility-impaired users

Hyundai Motor Group released a video titled 'The Moving Room' documenting a family trip taken by Kim On-yu, who has been hospitalized for 23 years due to medical necessity. The journey was made possible using the Kia PV5 WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle), a multi-purpose electric vehicle released in January.

The PV5 WAV features specific adaptations for mobility-impaired users, including V2L (Vehicle to Load) technology that allows medical devices like oxygen generators to operate during travel. The vehicle's design includes a side sliding door for sidewalk boarding and an integrated wheelchair slope capable of supporting up to 300kg, facilitating easier access compared to traditional rear-loading methods.

The trip was organized through 'Green Trip,' a Kia social contribution project that has supported travel for approximately 110,000 people with mobility challenges since 2012. Analysis of public feedback on the video indicated significant interest in utilizing the PV5 for medical/care, education/culture, and travel purposes.
