Kia Syros EV slated for India launch in July 2024
Kia is preparing to launch the Syros electric sub‑compact SUV in India, with the first production model spotted undisguised in Bangalore. The launch is expected on 23 July 2024. The EV will be offered with two battery packs – a 42 kWh unit delivering about 404‑km (420‑443 km) range and a larger 51.4 kWh unit providing roughly 490‑km (520 km) range – both paired with front‑wheel drive.
Pricing is projected between INR 14 lakh and INR 18 lakh (some reports cite INR 15‑20 lakh). Interior equipment is expected to include a triple‑screen layout, ventilated front and rear seats, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio, 360° camera, and a suite of safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control and tyre‑pressure monitoring. Spy images show the EV retains the boxy silhouette of the standard Syros with EV‑specific tweaks: a closed front grille, charging port on the left front, revised bumpers, vertical LED headlamps, L‑shaped LED tail lamps and an EV badge.
Kia may also offer a lifetime or 15‑year battery warranty, though this is unconfirmed. The Syros EV will compete with Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV, Mahindra XUV 3X EV and other upcoming compact electric SUVs. Kia has also hinted at a hybrid‑electric Sorento SUV for India, targeted for a 2026 festive‑season debut, underscoring the brand’s broader electrification push in the country.
