Kia is set to open pre-orders for the Carens EV, a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) electric model, in Indonesia starting next week. Production is scheduled to begin in early November 2026, with official launches and consumer deliveries expected during the same month.

According to Jong Sung Park, CEO of Kia Sales Indonesia, the Carens EV is locally assembled and boasts a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 80 percent. This high localization rate is supported by nickel-based batteries manufactured in Indonesia. The vehicle will be assembled using Hyundai Motors Indonesia facilities.

The Carens EV will be offered in four variants: Earth Captain Long Range, Earth 7s Long Range, Air Captain Standard, and Air 7s Standard. It features both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations with Standard and Long Range battery options. Estimated pricing for the Jakarta market ranges from Rp382 million to Rp432 million.

Technical specifications include a 26.6-inch Dual Panoramic Display, Bose eight-speaker audio system, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The model also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities and supports DC Fast Charging, which can charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 39 minutes using a 100 kW charger.
