KIB-TEK and EL-SEN reach agreement to end strike

The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) and the EL-SEN union have reached a settlement, officially ending a strike that had lasted eight days. The agreement was signed by KIB-TEK Chairman Gürsel Uzun, General Manager Dalman Aydın, Türk-Sen President Arslan Bıçaklı, and EL-SEN President Ahmet Tuğcu.

Key terms of the protocol include the formation of a four-person committee dedicated to occupational health and safety, with two members appointed from each side. The agreement also stipulates that necessary equipment will be provided immediately and confirms that no new employment has occurred during this period. Additionally, recent promotion decisions will be frozen and reviewed by a Promotion Commission once election bans expire.

To prevent further public hardship, the parties agreed to suspend all industrial actions until elections are completed and ensured that no disciplinary investigations will be conducted against personnel. KIB-TEK management also committed to the immediate repair of existing faults without requesting additional overtime pay for these specific tasks.
