Kigali hosts CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers draw for Kawempe Muslim and Simba Queens

The 2026 CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament will be staged in Kigali, Rwanda, from 21 to 31 August. The official draw, conducted at the Amahoro Stadium conference hall by CECAFA head of marketing Andrew Jackson Oryada and former Rwandan international Gloria Sofia Nibagwire, placed Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC in Group B with Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and Djibouti’s FC UJECO. Tanzania’s Simba Queens FC were drawn in Group C alongside Kenya Police Bullets FC and Burundi’s Top Girls Academy. Matches will be played at Kigali Pele Stadium and the FERWAFA Technical Centre. The ten‑team competition will see the top two teams from Group A and the winners of Groups B and C advance to the semifinals, with the champion earning CECAFA’s slot in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
