Kiiraay party expands influence in Senegal through new movement and local action
The Kiiraay political party, associated with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, is expanding its organizational structure through new national initiatives and local community engagement.
In Dakar, the party launched the National Dodak Movement (Domou Daaray Kiiraay), designed to integrate individuals with arabo-islamic expertise into national development. The movement aims to involve graduates from Arabic and Quranic education, religious scholars, and members of Islamic associations in public debates regarding education, culture, and national progress. The party stated that the movement is intended to value these skills within a republican framework rather than to politicize religion.
At the local level in Diarrère, Kiiraay coordinator Mbacké Ndiaye is focusing on grassroots mobilization and civic action. To address community needs following recent flooding, Ndiaye organized an environmental and solidarity day in collaboration with the Red Cross, which included a reforestation effort and the distribution of 250 mosquito nets to local families.
