KIJK emerges as largest ad-supported streaming service in the Netherlands
The streaming service KIJK has become the largest ad-supported platform in the Netherlands, reaching 1.8 million unique visitors aged 13 and older in September, according to research from GfK.
KIJK distinguishes itself from competitors by offering content for free in exchange for advertisements, whereas other major services require paid subscriptions even for ad-supported tiers. The platform features programming from SBS6, NET5, and Veronica, including shows such as ‘Vandaag Inside’.
Other streaming services followed closely in reach: Viaplay recorded 1.77 million visitors, Prime Video reached 1.76 million, and Videoland accounted for 1.65 million. Other notable platforms included Disney Plus with 842,000 visitors, HBO Max with 540,000, NLZIET with 400,000, and SkyShowtime with 373,000.
