Kike Olivera addresses transfer controversies and confirms Bahia stay

Uruguayan forward Kike Olivera addressed recent controversies regarding his potential transfer during a press conference. Currently on loan from Grêmio to Bahia until the end of the season, Olivera had previously attempted to force a move to Nacional in Uruguay.

Olivera attributed his recent unavailability and the surrounding social media speculation to personal family issues in Uruguay. He stated, "It was more due to family issues, which everyone has. And when you have problems with your family, you want to be around them." Despite his interest in returning to Uruguayan football, he confirmed his commitment to Bahia, asserting, "I am staying, always."

Reports indicate that Grêmio was dissatisfied with the player's recent stance and negotiations, with the club's management viewing the actions as self-serving. Consequently, Grêmio has not considered reintegrating him into their squad. Olivera is expected to return to selection for coach Rogério Ceni in the Brasileirão now that the situation has been clarified.
