In mid‑July 2026, Brazilian club Bahia turned down a loan request from Uruguay’s Nacional for striker Kike Olivera. And when you have problems with your family, you want to be around them.” Despite speculation of forcing a move, he confirmed his commitment to Bahia, asserting, “I am staying, always.” Grêmio management reportedly viewed his actions as self-serving and declined to reintegrate him into their squad. By August 21, following the failed negotiations with Nacional, Bahia reintegrated Olivera into the squad. Football director Carlos Eduardo Santoro confirmed that manager Rogério Ceni included him as an option for the upcoming Ba-Vi derby against Vitória.
