Kike Olivera's loan future uncertain as Grêmio, Bahia and Nacional negotiate
Uruguayan striker Kike Olivera remains on loan at Brazil's Bahia after Grêmio transferred his rights for a season‑long loan that cost Bahia US$400,000. Grêmio holds his contract until the end of 2027 and bought 60% of his economic rights for US$3.5 million, leaving a US$2 million debt to Los Angeles FC that the club wants the new loan holder to assume.
Bahia has indicated it will not retain Olivera, and the player has asked to train separately while seeking a move. Uruguay's Nacional has offered US$200,000 to take over the loan until December 2026 and is willing to assume part of the LAFC debt, but disagreements over the financial terms and contract conditions have stalled a final agreement.
