Kim Jong Un congratulates Putin, pledges alliance on Russia's National Day

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory message to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of Russia’s National Day, reiterating full support for Moscow’s domestic and foreign policies. The message highlighted the deepening alliance built on the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed earlier in June and promised that North Korea would "always stand" with Russia.

Both countries marked the holiday with commemorative ceremonies at Soviet war memorials and a diplomatic reception hosted by the Russian embassy in Pyongyang. While the United States and South Korea have repeatedly accused North Korea of supplying artillery, rockets and other weapons to Russia for the war in Ukraine, both governments have denied the allegations. The partners also agreed to construct a land bridge linking the two states, with an inauguration planned for 19 June to boost trade and logistical links.
