Kimi Antonelli clinches Monaco pole and fifth straight F1 win, joining elite club

Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli secured pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix on 6 June 2026, out‑qualifying championship leader Max Verstappen by 0.043 seconds and edging past Lewis Hamilton. The 19‑year‑old’s perfect lap placed him first on the starting grid for the 72nd Monaco GP.

The pole was part of a broader streak: Antonelli has now won five consecutive Grands Prix – Shanghai, Suzuka, Miami, Montreal and Monaco – making him only the tenth driver in Formula 1 history to achieve such a run. With the Monte Carlo victory he also became the youngest driver to complete a Grand Slam (pole, win, fastest lap and leading every lap). He leads the drivers’ championship by 66 points.

These achievements underline Antonelli’s rapid rise, positioning him as a leading contender for the 2026 world title.
