King Baudouin Foundation awards €1 million for Brussels cycling projects

The King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) has awarded more than €1 million to six exemplary and sustainable cycling infrastructure projects in and around the Brussels-Capital Region. This initiative, part of the Bikes in Brussels Awards, is now in its second consecutive year.

Managed by the KBF, the Bikes in Brussels Fund was established in 2025 to promote sustainable mobility by recognizing existing public cycling facilities. The selected projects aim to improve urban safety, overcome infrastructure barriers like roads and railways, and strengthen connections between Brussels and its surrounding areas.

The honored projects include:

• A Fast Cycle Route between Avenue des Communautés and the inner Ring Road. • The Dikke Linde Cycling Bridge connecting Boom and Brussels. • The Brussels-Bertem Fast Cycle Route linking Brussels, Kortenberg, Bertem, and Leuven. • A Fast Cycle Route underpass along the Brussels-Willebroek Canal. • The Groenendaal Cycling Tunnel and Eco-Recreation Bridge. • The Saint Bernard Cycling Street in Saint-Gilles.
