Kiren Rijiju uses 2015 Kejriwal video to challenge opposition on voter list revision
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has intensified the political dispute regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists by sharing a 2015 video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
In the video, Kejriwal is seen demanding large-scale corrections to Delhi's voter lists due to widespread discrepancies and duplicate names. Rijiju used the footage on social media to criticize Kejriwal and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, arguing that their current opposition to the SIR process contradicts Kejriwal’s previous demands for comprehensive list reforms.
In January 2015, ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP had raised concerns regarding voter list irregularities, claiming that approximately 4 lakh people held around 11.5 lakh voter cards. The party had also questioned similarities between voter lists in Delhi and neighboring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, alleging such discrepancies could facilitate voter manipulation.
