Kirk Franklin previews new double album in Atlanta

Twenty-time Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin hosted an exclusive preview of his upcoming double album, ‘I AM WHAT I AM’, at Sessions Atlanta. The project, scheduled for release on October 30, is presented by Fo Yo Soul Recordings, TRIBL Records, and Uptown Records.

Franklin described the album as a reflection of his personal journey, addressing his struggles with anxiety and depression while responding to years of criticism. The double album features seven studio recordings and live music, blending traditional gospel with contemporary sounds through collaborations with artists such as Jelly Roll, TobyMac, Isaac Carree, and Davido.

During the event, Franklin discussed the evolving landscape of Black church music and the challenges of maintaining musical authenticity. He encouraged emerging artists to focus on building long-term careers through authenticity rather than chasing fleeting trends.
