Kishtwar minor death case: Nurse arrested as total detainees reach six

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested a nurse from the Kishtwar District Hospital in connection with the death of a minor girl from the Chatroo area. This arrest brings the total number of individuals held in the case to six.

The investigation follows the death of a 15-year-old tribal girl on August 20, following an alleged attempt to terminate a pregnancy resulting from repeated sexual exploitation. Police have registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Previous arrests include a government school teacher, his brother, and a daily wage worker at the district hospital. The SIT is conducting a scientific, evidence-based investigation into the circumstances of the minor's death and the involvement of those connected to her medical treatment.
