Kithure Kindiki calls for Mt Kenya unity

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called for unity within the Mt Kenya region, urging leaders to respect a directive from community elders to prevent political divisions. Speaking in Kieni, Nyeri County, Kindiki emphasized that despite differing political affiliations, the region must not be split into East and West.

Kindiki, who was recently endorsed by elders from the Kikuyu, Embu, Mbeere, and Meru communities as the region’s spokesperson, stated he intends to follow the elders' orders to ensure peaceful political contests. He warned against political violence, noting that the region should focus on being wealth creators rather than destroyers.

During his visit to inspect development projects, the Deputy President highlighted significant government allocations, including Sh45 billion for 775 kilometres of roads in Nyeri County. He also noted progress in electricity connectivity, with 32,000 households already benefiting from last-mile connections.
