Kithure Kindiki Mount Kenya regional endorsement

Regional elders from the Mount Kenya area, including representatives from the Kikuyu Council of Elders and Njuri Ncheke, have officially endorsed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as the spokesperson for the Agikuyu, Ameru, Aembu, and Ambeere communities.

Following this endorsement, Kindiki pledged to lead reconciliation efforts within the region to ensure cohesion among these communities ahead of the 2027 General Election. He emphasized the importance of respecting elders to prevent political competition from dividing the region. Alongside his focus on unity, Kindiki reaffirmed his commitment to President William Ruto’s administration and promised continued investment in regional infrastructure, such as water and road projects.

Building on these efforts, Kindiki has intensified development inspections and political engagement across the Mount Kenya region. He has highlighted the government’s commitment to the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, specifically noting multi-billion shilling projects involving roads, stadiums, and markets in Murang’a and Meru counties. In Meru, he noted a Sh39 billion development programme intended to transform Meru town into a city.

During a recent visit to Kieni, Nyeri County, Kindiki reiterated his call for regional unity, urging leaders to respect the directive from community elders to prevent the region from being split into ‘East and West’. He warned against political violence, stating the region should focus on being ‘wealth creators rather than destroyers’. While inspecting projects in Nyeri, he highlighted a Sh45 billion allocation for 775 kilometres of roads and noted that 32,000 households have benefited from last-mile electricity connectivity.
