KJ Apa earns praise from Jimmy Stewart's daughter for upcoming biopic

Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, daughter of the late actor Jimmy Stewart, has praised KJ Apa’s portrayal of her father in the upcoming biopic ‘Jimmy’. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she noted that Apa successfully channels Stewart’s essence without relying on a mere impersonation, which she described as ‘eerie’ to witness while filming a cameo in the production.

Directed by Aaron Burns, the film follows Stewart’s life from his Academy Award win for ‘The Philadelphia Story’ through his service as a combat pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. The narrative traces his military experiences before his return to Hollywood to film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.

Apa stated that his goal was to provide an honest interpretation rather than an impressionistic performance, citing the classic 1946 film as a significant source of inspiration. The movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 6.
