KKB and Koç University partner on AI for fraud detection

Kredi Kayıt Bürosu (KKB) and the Koç University-İş Bankası Artificial Intelligence Center (KUIS AI) have signed a cooperation protocol to launch a new artificial intelligence project aimed at preventing credit application fraud.

The project, which involves five participating banks, utilizes federated learning technology. This approach allows for the development of shared fraud detection models while ensuring that sensitive raw data remains within each individual bank's own environment rather than being collected in a centralized system. This method addresses the tension between the need for large datasets and the necessity of data privacy and security.

Beyond technical development, the initiative aims to establish methodological expertise in applying federated learning within the financial sector and to train researchers specializing in data security and privacy. The project will undergo end-to-end testing using real banking data to evaluate the model's performance and its practical applicability in the financial ecosystem.
