KLA leaders receive support following Hague court developments

Public figures and former combatants have expressed support for former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders following developments in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

Swiss national team captain Granit Xhaka shared a message of solidarity on social media, posting images of Jakup Krasniqi, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi with the caption: ‘They fought on their land, for the freedom of the homeland. Freedom has a name.’

Ferat Xhaka, a former KLA soldier and relative of the footballer, traveled to The Hague to be present for the verdict. An invalid of the war, he expressed a strong belief that the outcome would be an acquittal for the four former leaders, stating that any other result would cause significant pain to the people of Kosovo.
