KLA Veterans Organization launches action platform after court convictions

The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK) has introduced an action platform following the first-instance convictions of four former KLA leaders by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. The convicted individuals include Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi.

According to OVL-UÇK Vice President Fatmir Sopi, the platform aims to organize a professional and continuous response to the verdict. Key priorities include supporting the defense during the appeal process, monitoring the rights of the convicted, and initiating institutional debate regarding the potential amendment or repeal of the Law on the Specialist Chambers.

The organization also intends to seek political accountability, engage in international advocacy, and ensure the documented history of the KLA is preserved. The platform calls for an institutional reassessment of the Chambers, analyzing the relationship between the original reasons for their creation and the subsequent mandate and legal outcomes.
