Klekovača Mountaineering Society climbs Musala peak twice in one day
Twenty-one members of the Prijedor-based Klekovača Mountaineering Society successfully completed an expedition to Musala, the highest peak in the Balkans, located in the Rila Mountains of Bulgaria.
The group, which included participants ranging from 21 to 88 years old, achieved the notable feat of climbing to the summit twice within a single day. The expedition began on September 16, involving travel through Sofia and visits to the Rila Monastery before settling in Borovec to prepare for the ascent.
Expedition guide and society secretary Marko Sarić noted that while the peak is not technically demanding, the terrain requires caution due to large, irregular rocks. The group reached an altitude of nearly 3,000 meters during their trek.
