König-Gruppe files for insolvency, affecting 1,000 jobs
The König-Gruppe, a construction-related company based in Moringen, Germany, has filed for insolvency. The proceedings, ordered by the District Court of Göttingen, cover the holding company and its two main operational divisions: König Fachpersonal, which provides skilled labor across more than 15 locations in Germany and three in Austria, and König Profilsysteme, which produces metal profiles for interior construction.
Approximately 1,000 employees are affected by the filing. The company has entered self-administration (Eigenverwaltung), allowing current management to remain in office while being supported by external restructuring experts, including Fredrik Ljungman and Christian Stoffler. To protect workers, the Federal Employment Agency will provide insolvency benefits to cover wages for an initial three-month period.
The group, which reported a turnover of approximately 100 million euros in 2025, cited several factors for its financial distress, including low capacity utilization, increased price and margin pressure, and internal structural challenges. An investor search is currently underway to secure the long-term future of the business and preserve jobs.
