Ohio crash kills three Dutch nationals and injures four others

Three Dutch nationals were killed and four others injured following a two-vehicle collision in Knox County, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 12:33 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 13 and Yankee Street in Berlin Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Ford Transit van carrying seven people was traveling westbound on Yankee Street when the driver, 48-year-old Gijs M. Odpam, allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign. A northbound Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by 51-year-old James S. Cline, subsequently struck the van.

Authorities identified the deceased as Arno Kramer, 55, Martijn E. Van Vooren, 44, and Hermanus J. Fortuin, 55. The driver and three other passengers were transported to local hospitals with injuries; specific conditions have not been released.

Reports indicate the group of Dutch travelers was in the United States to attend a major tractor pulling event. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and local emergency agencies.
