Ko Chih-en draws number 3 in Kaohsiung mayoral election draw

Kuomintang (KMT) mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en drew the number 3 slot during the official candidate number drawing for the Kaohsiung mayoral election. Following the draw, Ko launched a campaign slogan, “Number 3 brings miracles, flip Kaohsiung,” to rally party members and local leaders.

Ko also addressed recent controversies regarding her remarks at a local temple event. She denied accusations from Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Jui-lung that she was “pessimistic about Kaohsiung” or attacking voters. Ko clarified that she was merely recounting a dialogue with supporters who had insulted the KMT, questioning why they continued to support the ruling party after 30 years of governance if their lives had not improved.

Lai Jui-lung responded by urging Ko to direct her criticisms toward him personally rather than criticizing the citizens of Kaohsiung, accusing her of following old political tactics.
