Koçarlı District Agriculture Office urges farmers to return pesticide waste, not dump into Büyük Menderes River

The Koçarlı İlçe Tarım ve Orman Müdürlüğü launched a campaign urging local farmers to bring agricultural pesticide and fertilizer packaging to the district office instead of discarding them in the Büyük Menderes River. The office warned that uncontrolled disposal threatens water quality, the environment and public health.

To encourage compliance, the authority offered a reward: for every ten pieces of pesticide or fertilizer packaging turned in, the farmer receives one unit of liquid fertilizer. The initiative aims to raise recycling awareness and protect one of Aydın’s vital water resources.

"Zirai atıklarını Menderes'e atma, geleceğini kirletme" – the office’s message highlighted the risk of contaminating the river and urged farmers to participate in proper waste management.
