Kocaeli hosts Ultra Trail races with 905 athletes

The Büyükşehir Kocaeli Ultra Trail event has commenced at Kuzuyayla Nature Park in the Kartepe district of Kocaeli. A total of 905 athletes are participating in the competition, which features two distinct routes: the 50K Sisler Dağı (Mist Mountains) stage and the 15K Geyik Patikası (Deer Path) stage.

The 50K race began at 07:00 with 149 participants, while the 15K race started at 10:00 with 756 participants. The event is organized through a collaboration between the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Kocaeli Governor's Office, and the Turkish Athletics Federation.

To facilitate the event, free shuttle services were provided from the Derbent Cable Car parking area to the race site. Participants also had access to discounted cable car services to navigate the terrain. Prize money for the general classification winners includes 41,000 TL for first place, 35,000 TL for second, and 30,000 TL for third.
